Start with the equipment you genuinely need to carry, then choose the pack volume and harness size around that load.

Capacity matters, but fit matters more. Check torso length, hip-belt placement, shoulder-harness adjustment and the weight the pack is designed to manage. A correctly fitted smaller pack can be more comfortable than a larger model with the wrong harness.

Try the pack with realistic weight where possible. Clothing alone will not show how the harness behaves once food, water and shelter are added.

The range includes tents and shelters designed for conditions ranging from ordinary backpacking to exposed alpine and winter use.

That does not mean every model suits every Australian environment. Ventilation may be a greater priority in warm and humid areas, while strong pole architecture and secure pitching become more important in exposed or alpine terrain.

Compare the tent’s intended season, capacity, pole structure, ventilation, packed weight and included components. A tent designed for severe weather may be unnecessary for sheltered summer camping, while a lightweight model may require greater care and site selection.

Wilderness Equipment currently warrants its products against faulty materials and manufacture for the life of the product, subject to its published terms and exclusions.

The warranty does not cover normal wear, the natural deterioration of materials, improper use or inadequate care. Examples given by the manufacturer include damage from hauling an unprotected pack over rock, contact with thorny scrub and storing equipment while damp.
