The German manufacturer has more than 160 years of rope-making history and still produces its climbing and static ropes at its headquarters in Isny im Allgäu. Today, the range extends across ropes, harnesses, belay devices, carabiners, helmets and professional work-at-height equipment.

Ropes are genuinely part of the company’s DNA. EDELRID still manufactures its mountain-sports and static ropes in Germany, and its history includes development of the kernmantle construction now standard in climbing ropes.
Sport and professional equipment overlap. EDELRID works across climbing, mountaineering and professional work-at-height equipment, which is particularly relevant for the schools, programs and institutional customers we work with.
There is some real substance behind its sustainability work. EDELRID has developed PFAS-free rope treatments, uses recycled materials in selected products and applies its Climb Green framework across parts of the range.

Why We Stock EDELRID
We don’t stock brands simply because they have a big range. We look for the categories where a manufacturer genuinely brings something useful.
With EDELRID, ropes are the obvious starting point. The company developed the modern kernmantle rope construction in 1953, and rope production remains central to the business today.
But it goes further than ropes. EDELRID develops equipment for sport climbing and mountaineering alongside professional PPE, rescue and work-at-height applications. That crossover produces some smart solutions, particularly where durability, repeated use and equipment management matter.
Its Bulletproof carabiners are a good example. Selected aluminium models use steel at high-wear rope-contact points to reduce premature wear without making the entire carabiner from steel.
That kind of practical engineering is why the brand earns space in our climbing range.
