FLEXTAIL AIR PUMPS AUSTRALIA
Small pumps that take the puff out of camp setup.
We stock compact Flextail electric pumps for inflating and deflating compatible sleeping mats and recreational inflatables. From an ultralight pump for the trail to a more powerful model with a lantern and emergency power-bank function, there is an option for different ways of getting outdoors.
IS FLEXTAIL RIGHT FOR YOU?
Flextail is worth considering if you want to spend less time blowing up sleeping mats and more time settling into camp. Its compact electric pumps can handle most of the inflation work, assist with deflation and make it easier to pack air-filled gear down again.
We think Flextail makes the most sense for hikers, campers and travellers who regularly use compatible sleeping mats or low-pressure recreational inflatables. The smaller pumps earn their place when packed size matters, while the larger models offer extra airflow, lighting and charging features.
A Flextail pump will not be the right tool for every inflatable. The models in our range are designed around relatively high airflow at low pressure. They are not substitutes for tyre inflators, SUP pumps or other high-pressure equipment.
Before choosing one, check:
- The valve on your sleeping mat or inflatable
- Whether an included nozzle is compatible
- The pressure limits specified by the inflatable manufacturer
- How much weight and packed size you are willing to carry
- Whether you genuinely need extras such as a lantern or power bank
Some sleeping mats may still need a small manual top-up to reach your preferred firmness. If you only inflate a mat occasionally and prefer not to carry another rechargeable device, a pump sack may remain the simpler option.
WHAT FLEXTAIL DOES PARTICULARLY WELL
COMPACT ELECTRIC INFLATION
Flextail takes a job that can be slow and uncomfortable at the end of the day and fits the solution into a genuinely packable device. Even the larger models remain small enough for a camp kit, vehicle drawer or travel bag.
A RANGE OF USEFUL WEIGHT-TO-PERFORMANCE OPTIONS
Not every camper needs the lightest possible pump. Flextail offers a practical progression from the minimalist Zero Pump through to the more capable Max Pump 2 Plus, letting you choose between low weight, added airflow and extra functions.
INFLATION AND DEFLATION
These pumps do more than fill a mat. Their deflation function can help draw out trapped air, making sleeping mats and other compatible inflatables easier to roll, fold and repack.
USEFUL MULTI-FUNCTION DESIGNS
Models such as the Tiny Pump 2X add a camp light without becoming excessively bulky. The Max Pump 2 Plus goes further with a brighter lantern and emergency power-bank function. These extras can make sense when they replace another item you would otherwise carry.
RECHARGEABLE CONVENIENCE
Rechargeable operation means no hand pumping and no disposable batteries for most models. Charge the pump before leaving home, pack the correct nozzle and it is ready when camp goes up.
LESS BREATH INSIDE YOUR MAT
Using an electric pump can reduce the amount of moisture from your breath entering a sleeping mat. It also avoids the light-headed feeling that can come from manually inflating a larger mat after a long day outside.

WHY WE STOCK FLEXTAIL
We stock Flextail because its compact pumps solve a real campsite problem without demanding much room in a pack or gear box.
The brand started with the idea that lightweight electric equipment could remove some of the effort from outdoor travel. That thinking is clear in the pumps we have selected: they are small, purpose-built and available in genuinely different configurations rather than being the same product in several sizes.
We particularly like that there is no single “best” Flextail pump for everyone:
- The Zero Pump prioritises weight and packed size.
- The Tiny Pump keeps things simple.
- The Tiny Pump 2X adds useful lighting.
- The Max Pump 2 Plus favours airflow, runtime and versatility.
That gives us a straightforward way to help you choose based on the trip you are actually planning.
We also appreciate that Flextail publishes product manuals and backs its products, excluding accessories, with a limited one-year manufacturer warranty for the original purchaser. Proof of purchase and the applicable warranty conditions are required.
Like any battery-powered product, these pumps need some preparation. They must be charged, paired with the right nozzle and protected from conditions beyond their stated water-resistance rating. We would rather explain those limitations before you buy than pretend a mini pump can handle every inflation job.
If you are unsure whether a model will work with your sleeping mat, send us the mat name or a photo of its valve. We will help you narrow down the most suitable option.
A FEW THINGS CUSTOMERS ASK US ABOUT FLEXTAIL
WHAT IS FLEXTAIL BEST KNOWN FOR?
Flextail makes compact outdoor electric equipment. Within our range, it is best known for small rechargeable pumps designed to inflate and deflate compatible sleeping mats and other low-pressure recreational inflatables.
IS A FLEXTAIL ELECTRIC PUMP WORTH CARRYING?
It can be if you use an inflatable sleeping mat regularly. A pump saves effort at camp, reduces the amount of breath moisture entering the mat and can make deflation and packing easier.
For an occasional overnight trip, a pump sack may be simpler. For frequent camping, multiple mats or anyone who dislikes manual inflation, an electric pump becomes much easier to justify.
WHICH FLEXTAIL PUMP SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Choose according to what matters most:
- Zero Pump: best when minimum weight and packed size are the priorities.
- Tiny Pump: best for simple, compact inflation and deflation.
- Tiny Pump 2X: best for a balance of compact size, pump performance and campsite lighting.
- Max Pump 2 Plus: best when you want stronger airflow, longer runtime, lighting and emergency charging.
If you tell us what you are inflating and how you travel, we can help narrow it down.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ZERO PUMP, TINY PUMP 2X AND MAX PUMP 2 PLUS?
The main differences are weight, airflow, pressure, runtime and extra features.
The Zero Pump is the lightest and most minimalist. The Tiny Pump 2X adds a lantern and provides a useful balance for general camping. The Max Pump 2 Plus is larger and heavier but offers more airflow, a brighter light and an emergency power-bank function.
WILL A FLEXTAIL PUMP FIT MY SLEEPING MAT?
Flextail pumps include multiple nozzles, but that does not guarantee compatibility with every valve. Valve designs vary between sleeping-mat brands and models.
Check your mat’s valve against the nozzles shown on the individual product page. If you are uncertain, contact us before ordering.
CAN I USE ONE ON ANY AIR MATTRESS OR INFLATABLE?
No. Compatibility depends on the valve, the inflatable’s volume and its required pressure.
These compact pumps work best with compatible sleeping mats and other low-pressure recreational inflatables. Always follow the inflatable manufacturer’s inflation instructions and pressure limits.
CAN AN ELECTRIC PUMP DAMAGE A SLEEPING MAT?
It should not when the pump is compatible and used correctly. Use the appropriate nozzle, avoid forcing an adapter into the valve and never exceed the mat manufacturer’s recommended pressure.
Do not leave the pump running unattended against a closed or blocked valve.
HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?
Runtime varies by model, operating mode, load, temperature and battery condition. Published maximum runtimes are useful for comparing models, but they should not be treated as a guarantee for every trip.
Charge your pump before leaving home. For longer trips, conserve lantern use and follow the manufacturer’s charging and storage instructions.
WHAT WARRANTY DOES FLEXTAIL OFFER?
Flextail states that its products, excluding accessories, carry a limited one-year manufacturer warranty for the original purchaser. Proof of purchase is required, and eligibility remains subject to Flextail’s current warranty terms.
