Coffee for some people is a desired product, a warm drink they enjoy from time to time but for others like my self, we see it as the necessary morning ritual to ensure everyone else camping alongside you stays safe …..

As many coffee connoisseur’s will know coffee comes in many forms. You can have your many instant freeze dried blends , your coffee grounds sourced from across the globe or you may even buy your own beans to start your own process for finding the perfect cup. But what to do when you are out bush with limited resources?

After working through numerous cups of coffee strictly for scientific review purposes I have put together some great coffee retaliated products to ensure you are having a great brew.

Instant Freeze Dried

Some swear by the blend 57 or others alike and they certainly provide a basic option which is lightweight and requires nothing but hot water and a cup. It is relatively inexpensive and is easily stored anywhere you wish. It is the basic method and one which I used to take as a back up incase supplied ran low however if you are after a more flavoursome cup maybe try some of the option below.

AeroPress

These clever contraptions allow you to take your favourite coffee grounds into the sticks and enjoy. The Aeropress unit comes alongside scoops, funnels, stirrers and other bits and pieces, but let’s be honest nobody is going to carry all of that on a hike!! All you need is the unit and filters, forget the accessories!
I love my Aeropress and use it regularly, I can choose my bean blend and tailor the coffee strength and bitterness based on how many times the same grounds are pressed through. The more times the water passes through, the bitter the coffee taste is. I keep my coffee grounds in a 500ml Nalgene and generally this lasts me 5 -7 days with a few cups a day.

Tip: Able Brewing company make some excellent environmentally friendly reusable filters and caps to avoid the paper waste and allow you to store your coffee within the device.

The video below may not be the most entertaining however it provides you with all of the knowledge on how to use your Aeropress.
